If you're going to San Francisco...

2 november 2009 - San Francisco, California, Verenigde Staten

... be sure to wear flowers in your hair!

There is still a big number of hippies around here, some of them probably think this is still the 70's but -heck- I didn't mind! This city is an absolute must see for everyone. There's so much to see, so much to do and you won't know where to go first =)

It took me 2 days to see most of it and I didn't even take the time to visit any museums in the meantime. It's so beautiful! However, you should put on some good hiking shoes because it goes more up and down than a rollercoaster in Disneyland. There's a huge shopping area, Chinatown, beautiful parks, lots of young people, big parties, just about everything anyone needs. Oh, and the weather is awesome! Don't go up Coit Tower however, it's a ripoff! It's 5$ and you can't even take decent pictures since every "window" is covered with glass.

To be honest, I wouldn't want to live in the city itself (too many bums, crazy people and shady people) but the East Bay area would be perfect for me! Close to downtown, peaceful, quiet, good weather, easy connections to anywhere, etc... Location wise, San Francisco is perfect. The only downside is the (imminent) danger of an earthquake, but if you don't worry about this and you wanna live on the west coast: this is THE place!

I'll keep this short and simple since I really have got to get going. The bike is all ready: Santa Barbara here I come!! Instead of hitchhiking, I'm going to do 650KM on a crammy old bike via highway 1. (Yes it is allowed ;-)) In Santa Barbara I'll take a train to L.A. & immediatly leave for Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, I'll rent a car to go into the desert and visit Grand Canyon and all that stuff. =) I'm really excited atm!

More info on my new plan here: http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?source=ig&hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=115447128952649729973.0004776f1e523c1cca8e3&ll=35.737595,-119.663086&spn=3.994698,9.876709&z=7

You all take care there & enjoy the pics!
